MUSICAL THEATER WORKSHOPS
Musical theatre workshops for children and teens. Classes meet once a week during the school year and have 10 - 15 students, loosely grouped by age. Each class is 2 hours long so there is time for singing, dancing, acting improvisations, theater games, and (toward the end of each semester) rehearsal! Each class has it's own show. Many students continue in the workshops throughout their years in elementary and middle school. Musical Theater Workshops run continuously throughout the school year except for school holidays. Fees are paid twice a year on a semester basis, $475 per semester. The first semester runs from September – January. The second semester runs from January – mid June.

AUDITION PREPARATION CLASSES
Audition preparation classes help students prepare to audition for LaGuardia High School, P.P.A.S., and/or professional work. We start by helping students choose material within each school's guidelines (monologues, songs) that best suits their individual talents. We have many success stories! This class is limited to 8 students and runs for 6 weeks.

KID CITY THEATER COMPANY was founded in 1987 by singer/dancer/actress Wendy Tonken to expose children to the great American musicals she loved so much as a child.
Using the actual stage as a classroom, students learn acting technique and performance skills at the same time. Through singing, dancing, acting improvisations, and theater games, the children really open up to performing and develop a new appreciation and love for musical theater. In order for each student to experience what it’s like to perform in musical theater (as well as what’s involved behind the scenes) each class works on a mini version of a classic Broadway show which is shared with family and friends at the end of the year.
Although we do not do commercial productions, our class projects are fully mounted on stage with costumes and scenery. Although some students work professionally, no prior performing experience is required to join. Wendy firmly believes that every child should be given the opportunity to discover his or her own talent.
