MacBeth
By William Shakespeare
Directed by Albert Blake
Why do another production of Macbeth? Few plays have the ability to speak to an audience, no matter what time period. This cautionary tale of unbridled ambition and unrelenting greed is the stuff of our daily headlines. Shakespeare allows us to glimpse into the human heart and uncover that those “black & deep desires” are not only Macbeth’s, but often are found in the best of men and women. Often it only takes a simple word, a glance from a stranger, or an offer one can’t refuse to set off a chain of events leading to one’s destruction.

Although I am too young to have experienced hearing - live - Jimi Hendrix's guitar, Bob Marley, and Joni Mitchell, each of these artists had a profound impact on me when I first heard them. I think of those moments as "What was that?" moments. My first experience of hearing Schuyler Iona Press sing was one of those moments! . . . Skye is an extraordinary talent.

Conversation with a Kleagle ...
interview with a KKK recruiter.
by Rudy Gray
directed by Robert Hunkele
The show is being remounted for a 4th production of this extraordinary play..
In the late 1920’s, a time when lynching black men is an accepted, widespread form of racial oppression, a black Chicago journalist travels to the deep South to interview a Kleagle, a recruiter for the Ku Klux Klan. The reporter, passing for white, aims to change American public opinion, which has tolerated—often supported—Klan terror. But first he must succeed in his deception—and survive. However, his true racial identity is discovered by the Klan. This play is about this moment. Inspired by the experiences of Walter White, who went on to lead the NAACP as Executive Secretary from 1931 until his death in 1955.

Opening Night Audience Reviews May 23, 2012:
"This play would put meaning back into Broadway."
“I see a lot of theatre. This is one of the best shows I’ve seen.”
"This is better than most of the shows on Broadway!"
"The actors put their heart and soul into the play."
"This is an important play about Black History."
EXCERPT from NYTheatre review:
Conversation with a Kleagle by Rudy Gray is one of those rare shows that is important enough and powerful enough to warrant strong support and a large audience… Much of this play’s power comes from its revelation of the true face and danger of racism, often hidden behind carefully crafted personal facades or strategically controlled government positions… This play is an incredibly worthy piece of theatre.
EXCERPT from Talkin' Broadway Off-Broadway review:
At the heart of Conversation With a Kleagle is a terrifying journey. It's not the physical journey that the lead character, John Watson, makes in Rudy Gray's new play, but rather the emotional and psychological one that leads him into the mind and emotions of a major figure of the Ku Klux Klan.
Half the journey is exhilarating, half is trying, but all of it's worthwhile.
FIRST PRIZE: 2004 New Works of Merit Playwriting Contest - an international contest whose mission is to seek extraordinary, socially conscious scripts from around the world.

The Spaghetti Catalyst
by Milo Shucavage
directed by Robert Hunkele
Abby grew up in a house that is basically a war zone, with a manic bipolar mother and a father completely apathetic to his home life. When Abby receives a startling surprise at the same time her grand-parents are forced to move in with the family, the last few threads of sanity are broken and the family is thrown into utter chaos.
Excerpt from The Encore Review:
“Milo Shucavage masters dialogue in The Spaghetti Catalyst, a serious
show by a very serious young playwright. This is a unique opportunity
to see the early work of a playwright with a long and successful career
ahead of her.”
Excerpt from the Star News Review:
“This talented playwright shows an eye for the drama in everyday situations,
not to mention the twisted dynamics of chronically messed-up families.”

THE PATH OF A CLOWNVladimir Olshansky has toured the globe with Cirque du Soleil and performed as a principal in Slava Polunin’s critically acclaimed "Snow Show" all around Europe. Now, after a successful premier in Moscow, Vladimir comes to New York's 13th St Theater for one night only with this new one man show.
"The Path of a Clown" is an intimate journey through the various stages of the high art of clowning. Vladimir Olshansky digs deep to reveal the true nature of the clown, bringing us into a world that is a complex balancing act of comedy and drama.
Using the language of Visual Theater, “The Path of a Clown” reflects the familiar twists and turns of the human experience through pantomime, gesture, clown and circus arts. Through a series of emotionally moving and visually striking sketches, "The Path of a Clown" introduces us to a clown that has the power to invoke uncontrollable laughter as well as profound thought, culminating in a moving experience that is unforgettable.
